May 14th, 2015 New York, NY

Bill McLaughlin, Chief Technology Officer, is pleased to announce the launch of the Atlantic Private Cloud with its partner Net Access, an industry leader in colocation and data center services. Atlantic’s private cloud is designed to offer the same features and benefits of public cloud systems, but removes a number of objections to the cloud computing model including control over enterprise and customer data, worries about security, and issues connected to regulatory compliance. It also allows for Atlantic’s world class IT support to manage and control the environment without seeking third party support.

Larry Weiss, Chief Executive Officer, states “Atlantic continues to find new, innovative and cost effective ways to support our valued customers. Our Private Cloud offers small and medium businesses a large economy of scale cloud infrastructure without the massive capital or human resource expenditures required to build and manage in-house.  SMBs benefit with scalability, flexibility, freedom from system maintenance, and lower operational costs.”

Through this partnership, Atlantic is able to launch this easy to use, fully automated cloud infrastructure in Net Access’ secure and compliant Parsippany II data center.

“Net Access is extremely pleased to have this new partnership with Atlantic, Tomorrow’s Office,” states Steve Callahan, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Net Access. “Our data center services offer a secure and reliable foundation for Atlantic Private Cloud and will help to strengthen their ongoing commitment to meet the technology needs of the small business community in the New York Tri- State area.

Why the Security of Your Documents Is Essential
Security threats are everywhere. Whether they come from hackers outside your organization or from a rogue employee within your business, your data and documents are always vulnerable. That is until you secure them. And no, locking them in a filing cabinet would not be considered secure by modern business standards!

Paper documents can easily be stolen or taken out of the trash if they aren’t shredded, but electronic documents also pose a risk. Unprotected digital documents that have been saved on your network are vulnerable to security breaches and loss. So, how does a business go about securing its documents?

Document management is an extremely valuable solution for businesses looking to protect their documents. Not only does a document management solution enable companies to efficiently store, manage, access, and distribute enormous volumes of information while eliminating the clutter of unnecessary paper from their office, but it also safeguards business documents with a series of controls and security measures. A document management system minimizes your risk of loss and/or unauthorized access to your sensitive data while granting access to approved users.

Assessing the Threat

Risks to your data come in all shapes and sizes: competitors, thieves, disgruntled employees, and hackers. So do the methods they employ, including hacking, spyware, and viruses, which enable both humans and software to access your sensitive information without authorization. So, it’s important to recognize which threats your business is most prone to and protect against those first.

*IMPORTANT Internet Explorer Security Issue*

Posted on Thu, May 01, 2014

There was a recent discovery of a security flaw in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer that has been named New Zero Day.  This exploit specifically targets the use of the flash plug in and specific flash content.  The security flaw is found in IE 6 through 11, but is specifically targeting IE 9 and higher.

Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office is recommending that you use other mainstream browsers such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome until Microsoft can resolve the issue.  If you do not currently have these browsers loaded on your desktop you can follow the instructions below to complete the installation:

To install Firefox please click here, then double click the “Free Download” icon  to complete the installation.

To install Chrome please here, then double click the “Download Chrome” icon to complete the installation.

In the event you must use Internet Explorer, there are some steps to take in IE 10 and 11 such as turning on the Enhanced Protection Mode, disabling the flash plug-in, and/or utilizing the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit. Note that these will restrict functionality in the browser.  Please click here for additional formation on the Enhanced Protection Mode toolkit, including download instructions.

Once Microsoft releases a patch to resolve the security flaw we will deploy the fix to your Internet Explorer browser and send an additional notice to advise that you can resume using IE.

Atlantic's Managed IT Services team wants you to read this excerpt from the article written by Tim Rains of Microsoft, August 15th 2013 Published on the Microsoft Security Blog: "The Risk of Running Windows XP  After Support Ends April 2014

.......What is the risk of continuing to run Windows XP after its end of support date?  One risk is that attackers will have the advantage over defenders who choose to run Windows XP because attackers will likely have more information about vulnerabilities in Windows XP than defenders. Let me explain why this will be the case." ....
