New York, NY, November 9, 2010 – QUIT WASTING PAPER – in an effort to cut costs across city government, Deputy Mayor Stephen Goldsmith recently ordered commissioners to obey a law requiring double-sided printing of documents – which he said could save New York $1 million a year or 15% of their annual paper spend.
Goldsmith was quoted “It will target needless and often hidden costs that, over the course of time, have become an accepted part of business”. Goldsmith has been pushing city agencies to find small savings as well as large ones among them two-sided printing and sharing printers.
“It’s great to see NYC take action on such a great initiative that benefits both the environment and the people of our great city” stated Bill McLaughlin, VP of Managed Services and CTO of Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office, a national leader of document management services and the choice of over 15,000 customers in the greater NYC area. “Two sided printing is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how organizations can eliminate discretionary waste with an effective document management strategy that will free up funds for mission critical projects” McLaughlin added.
Since most companies spend between 1-3% of their annual revenue on documents, McLaughlin strongly urges businesses to leverage technology and best practices that will identify meaningful savings and improve end user productivity.
